Summer at Nanaimo Boxing Club
As the season shifts, so does our rhythm. Our final day of regular classes will be Friday, June 27th, and from there we’re moving into summer mode.
Throughout July and August, we’ll be offering Open Gym sessions only—giving our community space to train independently while we take a step back to be present with our growing family.
Summer Open Gym Hours:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Ages 13+
Open Gym packages will be available for purchase by June 28th.
This summer, we’ve made the decision not to run formal classes, private sessions, or camps. We’re grateful for your understanding as we prioritize balance and connection—both inside and outside of the gym.
For Current Members:
All active memberships have been cancelled. If you had any time left on your pass, a credit has been added to your account, which can be used for:

Looking Ahead to Fall
We’re already planning for a fresh, exciting new season. Here’s what to expect:
Schedule updates to reflect our community’s evolving needs
A brand new Intermediate Youth Boxing Class—built in response to your feedback and growing demand
Continued growth, deeper connection, and more opportunities to level up—together
Thank you for walking this journey with us. Your support, flexibility, and energy keep this space alive.
With deep gratitude,

Coaches & Owners, Nanaimo Boxing Club
Nanaimo Boxing Club is proud to be Home of Team 700. Team 700 is British Columbia’s first competitive Indigenous youth boxing team which began as a shared vision between Ivy Richardson and the Nanaimo Indigenous Youth Advisory Council. Ivy asked the youth on the council to give some thoughtful reflection on what name to choose - they decided on Team 700.
700 is the approximate number of youth who age out of government care each year in BC (although the number is now closer to 1000). The youth on council all had shared lived experience in government care so the name carried great meaning collectively. In the spirit of how we received our name Team 700 gives priority spots to Indigenous youth who have lived government care experience.
Team 700 is a family. It is a space in which Indigenous youth can attain tools that they need to successfully navigate life. It is a safe space, an outlet, and above all it is a space where Indigenous youth can aspire to greatness, inside and outside of the ring, while exemplifying Indigenous excellence.
In September 2023 we reopened the Nanaimo Boxing Club doors as the new owners. We are both extremely excited and proud to be a part of Nanaimo Boxing Clubs long standing legacy of supporting our community through the sport of boxing.
Nanaimo Boxing Club is committed to creating a community of passionate individuals who embrace boxing as a means to achieve physical fitness, mental, emotional and spiritual strength and personal growth. Through quality coaching, inclusive programming, and a supportive environment, we aim to empower our members to reach their fullest potential, both inside and outside of the ring.
We are deeply committed to creating safe, inclusive and professional boxing programs for all ages and stages. Our community and athletes come first in all that we do. With a combined 30 years of boxing experience we feel confident we will be an asset to have in your corner. Whether you walk through the doors looking for community, to reach new fitness goals, you have a desire to compete or you want to take your skills to a new level. We are prepared to support you to excel at all levels.
We can't wait to welcome you in!
